The Nordic Conference 'Victims of Violence – Our Responsibility'
has met twice before. The first conference, in Oslo in 1999, was initiated
by Norway where the Kompetansesenter for voldsofferarbeid wanted to take
up the issue in the Nordic context. The second was held in Stockholm in 2002,
and now Finland has the honour and responsibility of arranging the third
conference.
The aim of the conference is to strengthen Nordic victimological
research - still in its infancy - by creating a forum to spread new research
and the interim results of on-going projects. Furthermore, the conference
aims to encourage on-going experimental and development projects so as to
increase our understanding of the crime victim's perspective within the public
services - especially within the judicial system, social services, health
services, and the administrations of non-profit organisations.
The format
of the conference will follow an established tradition. The programme consists
of seven lectures at the plenum by invited speakers. There is room in the
programme for three sessions of parallel workshops. The number of workshops
per session will depend, as will their respective topics, on the response
to our invitations. A call for abstracts will be sent out with the invitation
in October 2007. Workshop presentations will be chosen on the basis of the
abstracts sent in. All conference presentations and papers will be published
in the conference report.
Here you will find the Internet version of the Conference Report and all
the available presentations as power point slides.
